But wouldn't it be better if the spiderwebs remained intact and , hence, did NOT tear ?

Thu, April 5, 2007 - 11:18 AMThis is lovely. I'm not familiar with the artist-definitely need to do a search and find out a bit more about his work.
Thanks for posting this here! -

Thu, April 5, 2007 - 8:53 PMAmy ,
I'm glad you did .
You have good taste in art .
Natalie Merchant-- when she was with the band 10,000 Maniacs-- sang a song about De Chirico on the album titled ' Hope Chest ' . -

Re: Autumn :by Xavier Mellery
Thu, April 5, 2007 - 11:18 PMMaurice Ravel composed a wonderful brief song to a text by Henri de Regnier that always makes me think of a di Chirico painting. This is the text:
Les grands vents venus d'outremer
Passent par la ville, l'hiver,
Comme des étrangers amers.
Ils se concertent, graves et pâles,
Sur les places, et leurs sandales
Ensablent le marbre des dalles.
Comme de crosses à leurs mains fortes,
Ils heurtent l'auvent et la porte
Derrière qui l'horloge est morte.
Et les adolescents amers
S'en vont avec eux vers la mer.
(Because of the play on words no literal translation into English can really do this justice, which is why I'm not offering one. But I'll search later and see if I can find a decent adaptation.) -

I am much obliged and would rightly tip the hat to thee-- if we met---tip it for a livelong day . You've mentioned a composer whose work I love ...at least Daphins and Chloe open up a synesthetic portal of mind ...Ravel is one swell fella !
And Henri de Regnier is a damn good poet .
WOW I feel way past cloud nine ...Its way better than the cat's pajamas to have found a group of fellow esthetes who like the Symbolist esthetic .
